Presented in a natural oak, bespoke frame, hand crafted by the artist, this mini 8x10" abstract is painted in rich oils. The rectangular shapes suggest fields from an aerial view. In the 1950s "Colour Field Painting" emerged as a departure from American Expressionism which was gestural in style rather than geometrical. Artists belonging to this new movement included Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman and Clyfford Still. These artists used large canvasses and worked with strong, flat colours in dominant shapes drawing on the vast landscape of the American Mid-West. This collection differs in size and style reflecting the traditional landscaping of smaller English fields with a patchwork appearance.

Tip: Team with two or more Oil Field paintings from the collection to create a stunning accent area to any home or workspace.
